I’m a Wolfeboro native and a Kingswood ’06 graduate.
I grew up loving Bailey’s Bubble hot fudge and breakfast at the diner. I spent many summer afternoons at the lake and winter evenings at Pop Whalen. I can still picture my elementary school classrooms, and I remember the warmth I felt from wonderful teachers who shaped my early years.
Everywhere we went, we saw familiar faces and shared a smile or two. As a child I felt at home here, and I grew up understanding the importance of community.
After graduating from UNH in 2010, I married my husband, Jon, and together we moved around following his orders from the Navy, and eventually following his civilian career. We made wonderful friends and found community in each place we lived. And yet, nothing quite compared to here.
Ten years later, in December of 2020, we finally moved to Wolfeboro with our four children.
Now we’re the ones who have the privilege to bring our children to the Bubble for an afternoon treat or to the lake for an afternoon swim; we’re the ones who get to bring them to the Pop and see their smile when they stand up on skates for the first time; we’re the ones who walk the elementary halls on Open Houses and Curriculum Nights while our children excitedly show us all they’ve learned.
Being a kid here was special, but being an adult here is even better.
I still understand – and perhaps understand even more now – the importance of community.
I want to support our community by representing our rights to live freely. I believe community is comprised by the individual. We are a crowded table (cue The Highwomen!) of varied perspectives, experiences, and beliefs — if we hold space for each other and seek to understand one another then we can solve problems together.
